Brooklyn-Kiev Port and CMA CGM outlined a large-scale project in Odessa
SE “Administration of Ukrainian Seaports of Ukraine” (AMPU), SE “Odessa Commercial Sea Port”, LLC “Brooklyn-Kiev Port” and the global shipping company CMA CGM on Friday in France signed a memorandum of understanding.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, the document was signed with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, who is on a working visit to France. The signing ceremony took place in Marseille.
“I am glad that such international companies as CMA CGM consider Ukraine a reliable partner. This is a guarantee of success and development of Ukraine. Our state has risen four positions in the annual Doing Business ranking. Now we are in 76th place among 190 countries. Ukraine is interested in cooperation with international investors, therefore, the government is conducting a number of activities to increase the investment attractiveness of our country. Ukrainian ports open up new opportunities for foreign investors. The cooperation of CMA CGM with the Ukrainian side is beneficial for everyone, as it will provide investments in the development of the Odessa seaport, an increase in cargo flow (...) The container shipping market is very dynamic, therefore, global port operators are interested in increasing capacity. Given the significant potential of Ukraine, as well as the fact that the Ukrainian authorities are interested in attracting investment in the country's port industry, in the near future we expect an increase in container traffic through Ukrainian ports, ”said Omelyan.
“The development of cooperation between AMPU, Brooklyn-Kiev Port and CMA CGM is another example of an effective public-private partnership. According to our port development strategy until 2038, public-private partnership projects will attract almost 44 billion UAH of investment in the development of the port industry. As part of this project, reconstruction of berths No. 13-s, 14-s will be carried out in Odessa. This will allow avoiding vessel downtime and significantly increase cargo transshipment volumes, ”said the acting AMPU Chairman Raivis Veckagans.
“The memorandum signed today gives hope that in the near future a large-scale infrastructure project will be implemented in the Odessa seaport, which will ensure attraction of investments in the development of the infrastructure of the Odessa port, an increase in cargo flow and the number of calls to the Odessa port, the introduction of new technologies, the creation of new workers places, raising social standards, ”added Omelyan.
Brooklyn-Kiev Port LLC is a port operator of the Odessa Sea Port. According to the AMPU registry, the company operates berth No. 42.
